About
Nefe African Art Gallery is a professional art space based in Accra Ghana. We started in 2016. We use our art to showcase the beauty and strength of Africa. We tell the raw African story from the inspiration of our ancestors. We are open for commissions and we do shipping worldwide.
Artist Biography
Nefe Ogodo’s paintings are usually stylized in quintessential uniqueness, and they are playful and funny as his style combines a rich mix of expressionism and impressionism.
Born in Warri, in Delta State of Nigeria, Ogodo’s passion for art was ignited at a very tender age, and since then, he has not relented in his effort to register his presence in the artists hall of fame.
He studied art in one of Nigeria’s foremost art schools – Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State of Nigeria, from the year 2004 to the year 2006, and obtained a National Diploma in Painting and General Art. Not satisfied with the knowledge he had thus acquired, Ogodo went back to the same Auchi Polytechnic in 2008 to study Painting and graduated in 2010, having obtained a Higher National Diploma.
Nefe Ogodo has being a professional studio artist since 2010, upon graduating from Auchi art school.
Artist Statement
Art is deeply rooted in me. Global trends, my environment, my culture are my source of inspiration. Art found me and took me in and connected me to my ancestors and they speak through me with my art.
I enjoy exploring with different materials and mediums. In the past I have worked with different mediums.
I use my Art to show the beauty and strength of Africa, I use my work to cancel that Western narrative that African religion, language and culture is barbaric and evil. Africa is the cradle of modern civilization, Africa is powerful beyond measure.
